John Tom Thompson - Leachville

John Tom Thompson, 72, of Leachville, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005, at his residence. Born at Knoble, he was the son of the late Edward and Youva Frazier Thompson. A longtime Leachville resident, he owned and operated Thompson's Hauling Company. He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Froman Thompson, of the home; two sons, John Edward Thompson of Leachville and Chad Thompson of Monette; two daughters, Bonnie Miller of Paragould and Ruth Hill of Leachville; two brothers, Bobby Thompson and Ed Thompson, both of Corning; two sisters, Freda Locke, of Corning and Earline Roberts of Paragould; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers.

The funeral was held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Howard Funeral chapel in Leachville with Brother Jerry Reed officiating. Burial was in the Leachville Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Ed Dempsey, Clarence Platts, Robert Froman, Dan Gillian, Keith Evans and Tom Derikson.

Honorary pallbearers were Brian Thacker, Larry Don McFarlin, Tillman Dill, Darrin McFall and Randy Wimberly.
