Nora Maxwell Adams - Fort Smith

Nora Maxwell Adams, 91, of Fort Smith died Friday, Sept. 30, 2005, at St. Edward Mercy Medical center in Fort Smith. Born at Smithville, she lived in Fort Smith for 15 years after having lived in Jonesboro for 36 years and also in Conway. She was an elementary school teacher and worked in the Caraway and Nettleton public school systems for 29 years. She was a member of Nettleton Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school, and a member of Oak Cliff Baptist Church in Fort Smith.

Survivors include her husband, Tilman P. Adams of the home; two sons, John Adams of Houston, Texas, and James Adams of Fort Smith; three grandchildren, Brian Adams of Waldron, Stewart Adams of Greenwood and Ashli Black of Fort Smith; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Callie Moore Maxwell; two brothers, Bill Maxwell and George Maxwell; and two sisters, Bass Boyer and Dora Gay.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. today (Tuesday) at Gregg Funeral Home in Jonesboro with the Rev. Stan Ballard officiating. Burial will be in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.
