Gene Autry Palmer - Manila

Gene Autry Palmer, 62, of Manila died Friday, April 22, 2005, at Monette Manor Nursing Center. A lifelong Manila resident, he was a retired farmer, a commercial fisherman and a member of Backwater Church of God near Manila.

Survivors include six adoptive sons, Gerald Petty of Jonesboro and Arlan Petty, Gary Petty, Johnny Petty, Donny Petty and Ricky Petty, all of Manila; four adoptive daughters, Annie Paddock of Oklahoma, Judy Petty of Gosnell and Ruby Heiser and Anette Ward, both of Searcy; two brothers, Ray Palmer of Manila and Larry Palmer of Powhatan; three sisters, Velma Formica of Biloxi, Miss., Shirley Isebell of Manila and Katheryn Elmore of Vicksburg, Miss.; and several grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ledger and Annie Thomas Palmer, two brothers and two sisters.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Monday at Howard Funeral Service of Manila with Rev. Burl Lloyd officiating. Burial was in the Manila Cemetery.
