Joseph Eldon Smith - Leachville

Joseph Eldon Smith, 22, of Leachville, died Thursday, April 14, 2005, at Great River Medical Center in Blytheville.

Born at Osceola, he had lived most of his life in Dyess. He was a self-employed carpenter and had been a Leachville resident for the past five years.

He is survived by his parents, Charles and Marie Smith of Leachville; two brothers, Bryan Smith of Echo, La., and Nathan Smith of Leachville; a sister, Nicki Elkins of Armorel; his maternal grandfather, Curtis Underwood of Caraway; and his fiancee, Rhonda Nelson, of Manila.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Winnie Underwood, and his paternal grandparents, Charlie and Pearl Smith.

A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Potter's Cemetery in Lepanto with Rev. Mark Wheeler officiating. Burial was under the direction of Howard Funeral Service of Leachville.
