Velma Lorene Platz - Monette

Velma Lorene Platz, 66, of Monette, died Sunday, March 27, 2005, at her residence.

She was born in Batesville and lived most of her life in Monette. She was employed at Frolic Footwear and was a member of Rowe's Chapel Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Bill Platz, of the home; three sons, Clarence Platz of Monette, Mitchell Platz of Stanton, Tenn., and Jerry Platz of Trumann; three daughters, Diane Holt of Manila, Sheila Anderson of Caraway and Linda Luff of Caraway; her father, Ray Rodgers of Monette; a brother, Junior Rodgers of Monette; two sisters, Virgie Shirley of Ravenden Springs and Anna Lee Patterson of Jonesboro; 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Francis Miller, a granddaughter, Cheri Lorene Anderson, and a great-granddaughter, Blaze Marie Murphy.

The funeral was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Emerson Chapel in Lake City with Rev. Mike Tabor officiating. Burial was in the Monette Cemetery under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home of Lake City.

Pallbearers were Bob Platz, Garland Platz, Jim Platz, Owen Keiter, Kevin Keiter, Kenny Rowan, Jim Platz Jr., and Robert Anderson.
