Leta May Groomes - Monette

Leta May Groomes, 95, of Monette, died Monday, Oct. 25, 2004, at Monette Manor, Inc., in Monette. She was born at Poplar Bluff, Mo., and lived in Monette for 38 years, formerly of Childress. She was a member of the Monette First Baptist Church and Women on Mission Group. She was a homemaker and member of the Homemakers Extension Club.

She is survived by two nieces, Cheryl Pasmore of Jonesboro and Constance O'Hara of Dundee, Mich.; a nephew, David Melville of Magnolia and several great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Grover C. Groomes, her parents, Francis Marion and Stella (Wisecarver) Sutton, and two sisters.

The funeral was held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Gregg Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Captain Lovell officiating. Burial was in the Monette Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Fuernal Home of Monette. Active pallbearers were John Pasmore and David Melville. Honorary pallbearers were the deacons of the First Baptist Church.
