Marion Jewell Arkie Surber - Jonesboro

Marion Jewell Arkie Surber, 84, of Jonesboro, formerly of Cherokee Village, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born in Rector, he worked as a store manager for more than 30 years. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps during World War II and was of the Baptist belief.

Survivors include four daughters, Trina Surber Smith of Jonesboro, Charlotte Hosier of Kokomo, Ind., Martha Lee Surber of Lake City and Mary Frances of West Memphis; two sons, Johnny Surber of Jonesboro and Gary Surber of Greensboro, N.C.; two brothers, Carl Surber of Atlanta and Lloyd Surber of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; and a sister, Eva Branch Hopkins of Paragould.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Joe Surber; his parents, Earnest and Ura Gooch Surber; and a brother.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Monday at Heath Funeral Home in Hardy with O.C. Wright officiating.

The family requests anyone wishing to leave a lasting memorial consider the Alzheimer's Association at Parkview Medical Center in Little Rock.
