Robert Joe Johnson, 57, of Hamilton, Ala., died Friday, Oct. 8, 2004, at Hatley, Miss. Born at Sulligent, Ala., he lived in Marion County, Miss., most of his life. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He operated R&N Backhoe and Dozer Service and was a member of the Assembly of God.

Survivors include three daughters, Lisa Miller of Manila, Phyllis Johnson and Joann Johnson, both of Paragould; 12 stepchildren, Sam Finney, John Finney, Tommy Davis, Jacky Davis, Jimmy Davis, Timothy Williams, Sherry Black, Bertha Underwood, Sue Simpson, Brenda Norris, Glenda Davis and Jennifer Rooker; two brothers, Charles Johnson of Tupelo, Miss., and Butch Johnson of Nettleton, Miss., two sisters, Tollie McCullar and Dorthy McCullar, both of Amory, Miss., six grandchildren, Jeremy Miller, Jesse Miller, Kayla Miller, Morgan Miller, Joseph Morgan and Carl Morgan and 34 step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Johnson; a son, Ronnie Joe Johnson; his parents and a brother.

Services were 2 p.m. Monday at E.E. Pickle Funeral home of Amory, with Tommy Wright officiating. Burial was in Providence Cemetery at Nettleton, Miss.

Pallbearers were Marlin McCullar, Michael Abbott, Eric Abbott, Ronnie Griggs, Darrell Barnes, Jacky Richardson and Michael Welch.

Honorary pallbearers included Ray Sickler and Jeff Basham.
