Earnest "Red" Duane Davis - Manila

Earnest "Red" Duane Davis, 44, of Manila, formerly of Harrisburg, died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2004, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Blytheville.

Born at Rock Island, Ill., he was the son of the late D.W. Davis and had been a Manila area resident since 1996. He was a farmer and of the Pentecostal faith and had served in the Arkansas Army National Guard.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Watts Davis, of the home; four sons, Michael Davis of Harrisburg, Christopher Davis and David Davis, both of McKinney, Texas, and Thomas Davis of the home; a step-daughter, Samantha Cole Copeland, of Manila; his mother, Gracie Davis of Harrisburg; four brothers, Danny Davis of Weedsport, N.Y., Darryl Davis and Roger Davis, both of Harrisburg, and Robert Gretter of Mountain Home; four sisters, Connie Ply of Flippin, Becky Whitley of Harrisburg, Diana Ply and Deborah Sparks, both of Peel; and four grandchildren.

A graveside service was held at 3 p.m. Friday at the Harrisburg Memorial Park Cemetery with Brother James Chipman officiating. Howard Funeral Service of Manila was in charge of arrangements.

Active pallbearers were Roger Davis, Terry Nelson, Shawn Davis, Jimmy Sparks, Josh Davis and Steven Palmer.

Serving as an honorary pallbearer was Jonathan Sparks.
