O.C. Boyd - Jonesboro

O.C. Boyd, 66, of Jonesboro, died Friday, May 28, 2004, at the Regional Medical center of NEA.

Born in Trumann, he lived most of his life in Jonesboro. He was the president of Force Technologies welding Supply, served in the Army Reserves and was a member of the Nettleton United Methodist Church.

He was a member of Jonesboro Masonic Lodge No. 129 and Nettleton Masonic Lodge No. 657. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Valleys of West Memphis and Fort Smith and the York Rite Masonic Bodies of Jonesboro. He received many honors throughout his Masonic career, including coronation as a 33rd degree Scottish Rite Mason. He had also served as grand master of Masons of Arkansas.

Survivors include his wife, Maude Boyd, of the home; three sons, Mitchell Qualls and Vick Qualls, both of Lake City, and Chris Qualls of Jonesboro; a daughter, Brooke Boyd of the home; two sisters, Joanne Cox of Jonesboro and Mary Catherine Brown of Buena Park, Calif.; and three grandchildren, Caden Qualls, Cailey Qualls and Madison Qualls.

He was preceded in death by a son, Todd Boyd; his parents, Charles F. and Jessie O'Neal Tyler Boyd; and a brother.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Emerson Funeral Home's Memorial Chapel in Jonesboro. Eulogies were given by Marty Byers and brooke Boyd. Burial was full Masonic Rites in Jonesboro Memorial Park.

Active pallbearers were Garland Miller, Bill Forest, Mary Byers, James Weatherall, Dub Newell and Gary Jones.

Honorary pallbearers were members of the Nettleton Masonic Lodge and Jonesboro Masonic Lodge, employees of Force Technologies and Dr. Danny Grubbs.
