Lawrence Jackson Despain - Lake City

Lawrence Jackson Despain, 74, of Lake City, died Friday, April 9, 2004, in Memphis.

He was born in Trumann and lived most of his life in Lake City. He was a member of the Lake City First Assembly of God Church, a self-employed mechanic and concrete construction company owner.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Despain of the home; four sons, Jack Despain of Jonesboro, Gary "Wompus" Despain of Lake City, Tim Despain of Monette, Eddie Despain of Lake City; two brothers, Richard "Dick" Despain of Lake City, Vernus Despain of Lake City; a sister, Gladys Murphy of Lake City; nine grandchildren, Marc Despain, Jacquelyn Bicker, Clay Despain, Caitlin Despain, Dylan Despain, Mitchell Despain, Jennifer Despain, Bridget Dublin, and Mallory Cullum; five great-grandchildren, Kaleb Dublin, Kameron Dublin, Brook Despain, Zacary Despain and Blake Despain.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Jackson Despain his mother, Clifford Lairson Despain, and four brothers, Althony Despain, Eugene Despain, James Despain, and Cleatus Despain.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. today (Tuesday) in the Emerson Chapel in Lake City with Rev. Steve Crawford officiating. Burial will follow in the Monette Cemetery under the dir4eciotn of the Emerson Funeral Home of Lake City.

Pallbearers are Steve Despain, James Stewart, Jed Bicker, Josh Barker, Chris Despain, and Bud Caldwell.
