Charles "Bud" Sairls - Jonesboro

Charles "Bud" Sairls, 79, of Jonesboro, died Monday, Feb. 23, 2004, at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born at Caraway, he had lived in Jonesboro most of his life. He was a retired truck driver having worked several years for Coleman Texaco Distributors and Baldwin Petroleum. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of the Jonesboro Church of God, where he served on the pastor finance board.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Chadwick Sairls of the home; a daughter, Shirley Tate of Lebanon, Tenn.; a son, Ronnie Sairls of Jonesboro; a sister, Lucille Fraley of Jonesboro; and three grandchildren, Tony Tate, Katie Sairls and Emma Sairls.

He was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Jonesboro Church of God with Revs. Tommy Henderson, C.E. Sturch and Jim Cantrell officiating. Burial was in the Nettleton Cemetery under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers were Dub Newell, Clarence Shinault, Ed Carter, Harold Chadwick, Jim Bryant and Glenn Patterson. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. James Robinette, J.D. Coker, Otis Bradley and Ellis Marshall.
