Jesse Deavours Jackson, 83, of Memphis, Tenn., died Feb. 28, 2003, at his home. He was a retired car salesman of 30 years at Chip Barwick Chevrolet and Tom Bell Chevrolet. In 1957 he was presented an award for extraordinary performance and excellence for selling the most Chevrolets in the United States in a single year.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Forrest-Jackson of 60 years; four daughters, Jesselyn Ann Ivy of Memphis, Forrest LaNelle Erwin of Sharon, Tenn., Carole Lee Pennebaker-Styers of Ocala, Fla., and Tracy Lynn Ivy of Memphis, Tenn.; two sons, Michael Brandon Pennebaker of Ocala, Fla., and Harley D. Erwin of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; and three grandchildren.

A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 3, at Memorial Hill Gardens Cemetery with Memphis Funeral Home of Poplar Chapel in charge of arrangements.
