Myrtle Wallace - Monette

Myrtle Wallace, 80, of Monette died Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro. She was a homemaker, a member of Mt. Pleasant General Baptist Church, and had lived in the Monette all of her life.

She is survived by three daughters, Betty Sue Pyland and Phillis Moxley, both of Monette, and Barbara Wright of Winder, Ga.; a sister, Emma May Finley of Sacramento, Calif.; and five grandchildren, Bryan Pyland, Eric Moxley, Kim Hendrix, Kristin Miller, Misty Wright; and two great-grandchildren, Dalton Hendrix and Jaden Hendrix.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Arthur and Maude Strickland, and her husband, Elvis L. "Mutt" Wallace; and two sisters, Mittie Velma Cornish, and Mary Sue Welch.

The funeral was held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Gregg Funeral Home Chapel in Monette with Rev. Captain Lovell, Bob Heath, Winfred Bridges, and Clarence Cornish officiating. Burial was in the Monette Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Monette.

Active pallbearers were Carey Smotherman, Pete Williams, David Edwards, Terry Edwards, Norman Lynn Williams, Dennis Finch, Kevin Mullen, and Dr. Dennis Parten.

Honorary pallbearers were Hamil Million, Earl Reed, Robert Flannigan, Bud Cannon, Paul Lang, Kenny Lomax, Clifton Jackson, Lloyd Welch, and Billy Marshall.

The family requests anyone wishing to leave a lasting memorial consider the American Cancer society and American Heart Association.
