Jimmy Wayne Vinson - Jonesboro

Brother Jimmy Wayne Vinson, 64, of Jonesboro, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at his home. He was born in St. Genevieve, Mo., and had lived in the Jonesboro area for the past 20 years.

He was a minister for 33 years. He pastured several churches in Arkansas and Missouri and currently served as the pastor of the New Hope Baptist Church in Caraway. He was a graduate of the Williams Baptist College.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mary Alice Hendrix Vinson, of the home; three sons, Todd Vinson of Keiser, Tracy Vinson of Jonesboro and Tony Vinson of Branson, Mo.; three daughters, Maria Pierson of Jonesboro, Martha Stocklin of St. Louis, Melissa Vinson of Jonesboro; a brother, Billy Vinson of Jonesboro; a sister, Pat Morris of St. Mary, Mo.; and 11 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Cox Vinson, his father, George Vinson, and by a granddaughter, Sara Ashley Elizabeth Vinson.

A funeral service was held at 7 p.m. Monday at the Emerson Memorial Chapel with Brother Harold Ray officiating. A funeral service will be held today (Tuesday) at the Trinity Baptist Church in St. Mary, Mo., with Brother Don Estes officiating. Burial will follow in St. Genevieve, Mo., under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers and grandson will serve as honorary pallbearers.
