Iva Nell Akes - Monette

Iva Nell Akes, 61, of Monette, died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002, at her home. Born at Heber Springs, she was the daughter of the late Robie and Gertie Goff Clayton and had been a Leachville and Monette area resident since 1949. She was retired from Frolic Footwear and was a member of the Church of God.

She is survived by her husband, Floyd Akes, of Monette; a son, Mike Akes, of Paragould: a daughter, Vickie Southerly, of Marmaduke; seven brothers, Leo Clayton of Monette, Raymond Lee Clayton and Bill Clayton, both of Leachville, Kenneth Clayton of Moentte, Delbert Wayne Clayton of Greenbriar, Myril Clayton of Leachville and Dean Clayton of San Antonio, Texas: two sisters, Wincle Clayton of Monette and Imagene Roper of Leachville; six grandchildren and a great-grandson.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Howard Funeral Chapel in Leachville with Rev. Dennis Madison officiating. Burial was in the Cudd Cemetery in Marmaduke under the direction of Howard Funeral Service.
