Myrtle Vera Weems - Lake City

Myrtle Vera Weems, 87, of Lakeside Nursing Center died Sunday, March 31, 2002, at Regional Medical Center of NEA.

Born at Hackleburg, Ala., she moved to Bay in 1957, where she lived before moving to the Lakeside Nursing Center in Lake City two years ago.

A retired employee of the Carl R. Reng Center at Arkansas State University, she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bay.

Survivors include her husband, Vilous Weems of Lake City; four daughters, Anna Mae Yocum of Russellville, and Alice Hall, Carolyn Stevens and Rita Tarver, all of Bay; a sister, Iva Lee Brumley of Alabama; five brothers, C.R. Dollar of Rhode Island, Lumas Dollar and Carl Dollar, both of Michigan, and Elvin Dollar and Neil Dollar, both of Alabama; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, a sister and a brother.

The funeral was held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Emerson Memorial Chapel in Jonesboro with Rev. William Passmore officiating. Burial was in Pine Hill Cemetery under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Ray Yocum, Randy Skaggs, Jimmy Griffin Jr., Russell Hall, Mike Martin and Rick Woods served as pallbearers.
