Loyd Austin - Black Oak

Loyd Austin, 82, of Black Oak died Thursday, Deb. 14, 2002, at St. Bernards Medical center in Jonesboro. Born in Mississippi, he attended school in Helena and had worked briefly as a heavy equipment operator. He retired as a farmer in Star City and had lived in Pine Bluff for 32 years before moving to Black Oak. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Pine Bluff.

Survivors include his wife, Annie Marie Harrison Austin of Black Oak; a son, Gerald Austin of Gilmer, Texas; a daughter, Joyce Holst of Black Oak; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and a sister.

The funeral was held at 10 a.m. Monday at Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Home in Pine Bluff with Rev. Jimmy Watson officiating. Burial was in Dark Corner Cemetery near Gould.
