Charles L. Adams - Jonesboro

Charles L. Adams, 72, of Jonesboro, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2002, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born in Huffman in Mississippi County, Adams lived in Blytheville before moving to Caraway in 1952, and then to Jonesboro in 1995. He was a farmer and owned and operated the Adams Seed Company in Caraway for several years.

He was a member of the Caraway Lions Club, and a 32nd degree Mason in the Caraway Masonic Lodge where he was a past Worshipful Master. He was also a member of the York Rites, and was a member of the Windover Baptist Church in Jonesboro where he was a member of the building committee.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Adams, of the home; a daughter, Phyllis Murray of Jonesboro; a son, Mike Adams of Caraway; a stepson, Dewayne Couch of Monette; two sisters, Joye McPeake of East Market, Md., and Francis Tate of McComb, Miss.; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gloria Smith Adams, and his parents, John Harmon and Nancy Annie Elizabeth Giles Adams.

The funeral was held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Windover Baptist Church in Jonesboro with Revs. Winford Bridges, Waymon Holt and Jerry Jolly officiating. Burial was in Dogwood Cemetery in Blytheville with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.

Active pallbearers were Grandsons Lynn Murray, Brian Murray, Brandon Murray, Adam Murray, Greg Adams, Jon W. Murray and John R. Murray.

Honorary pallbearers were the Men's Sunday School Class at Milligan Ridge Baptist Church, the Men of Windover Baptist Church and men of the Caraway Masonic Lodge.
