William H.Nance - Harriet

William Henry Nance, 72, of Harriet, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. He had lived in Harriet for the past seven years, having moved there from Lake City. He worked as a mechanic and was a member of the Big Flat Assembly of God Church.

He is survived by his wife, Loretta Nance of the home; a son, Bill Nance of Brookland; his stepmother, Eleanore Nance of Lake City; two stepdaughters, Tammy Hawkins and Tracy Goll, both of Muskegon, Mich.; a stepson, Wade Hickey, of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sisters, Evelyn Harmon of Colton, Calif., and Norma Beeler of Torrance, Calif.; a brother, Walter Nance of Jonesboro; six grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ballew Nance, and three brothers.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Emerson Funeral Home Chapel in Lake City with Rev. Benny Isom, Rev. Larry Watts, and Rev. Steve Crawford officiating. Burial was in the Pine Log Cemetery under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home of Lake City.

Pallbearers were David Fields, Chris DeArmond, Kenny Fields, Johnny Hattenhawer, Tim Nance, Dennis Elrod and Ronnie Nance.

Honorary pallbearers were Earl Jackson, Buddy White, Harold Wood, Charlie Hoke, Ezra Broughton and James McElroy.
