Thelma Berry - Blytheville

Thelma Bernice Isaacs Berry, 90, of Blytheville died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Blytheville. She was born near Manila, one of eight children of the late Wilburn and Nellie Haynes Isaacs. She was predeceased by her siblings. She married Kendall Berry Dec. 31, 1929, and they moved to Blytheville in 1935. Mrs. Berry was a world traveler with her husband, visiting Baptist missionaries around the world at their posts. She was a co-contributor of the Kress Building to Main Street Blytheville and joined in the gifts that were jointly made to other institutions. Mrs. Berry was a former Cub Scot den mother in earlier years, active in PTA and First Baptist Church where she was Sunday school class pianist, choir member and youth trip sponsor. She served as a volunteer at the USO and the local hospital and was an active member of PEO, the Women's Club and Women's Missionary Society.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Carrie Sue Berry of Franklin, Tenn.; son Jerry Berry of Boulder, Colo.; seven grandchildren, Kendall Wood Berry of Hornersville, Mo., Paige Haynes Berry and Alana Berry Womack, both of Nashville, Tenn., Samuel Alan Berry of Franklin, Tenn., Carrie Dale Ruark of Nashville, Tenn., Prentiss Webb Berry III of Pensacola, Fla., and Jessica Berry King of Bellingham, Wash.; and eight great-grandchildren, Daniel Alan Berry, Kendall Wood Berry, Jr. and Brittany Dawn Berry, all of Toledo, Ohio, Lillian Virginia Berry and Anna Catherine Berry of Franklin, Tenn., Carrie Isabel Womack and Georgia Grace Ruark, both of Nashville, and Prentis Webb Berry IV of Pensacola.

Services were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church chapel in Blytheville with Rev. Bill Fuller officiating. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Cobb Funeral Home of Blytheville. Grandsons served as pallbearers.
