Furman Culberson - Alabama

Furman Culberson, 85, of Cullman, Ala., formerly of Manila, died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2001, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was the son of the late William and Eveline Culberson and had been a resident of Cullman for the past 20 years. He was a retired brick mason and an Army veteran of World War II.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Culberson, his son, Walter Culberson, and his stepdaughter, Edna Montgomery.

Survivors include a stepdaughter, Mildred Starling, and her husband Len of DeSoto, Texas; five grandchildren, Joel Starling of Midlothiao, Texas, Gina Langley of Portland, Ore., Nancy Stover and Vivian Johnson, both of Falkville, Ala., and Melissa Holladay of Hartsalle, Ala.; 14 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Services were 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila, Rev. Rich Elligson officiating. Interment was in Manila Cemetery.
