Mary Ruth Ashley - Blytheville

Mary Ruth Ashley, 54, of Blytheville, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, at Baptist Memorial Hospital East in Memphis.

Born at Osceola, she was a cashier and cook at a convenience store and a member of the Luxora First Baptist Church.

Survivors include four daughters, Lisa Gaines of Gurley, Ala., Tracey Ashley of Tampa, Fla., Tina Ashley of Blytheville, and Leslie Leija of Dell; five sons, Donald Ashley, Jr. and Willie Ashley, both of Dell, Bobby Ashley of Manila, Curtis Ashley of Burdette, and Carl Ashley of Gosnell; four sisters, Joann Edwards of Osceola, Connie Austin of Memphis, Diane Malone of Manila, and Margaret White of Florida; a brother, Nelson Tacker of Luxora; and 18 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Eugene Ashley.

Funeral services were held Thursday at Wilson Funeral Home in Blytheville, with George Nichols officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens of Blytheville.
