Amon Eugene "Sonny" Holt Jr. - Melbourne

Amon Eugene "Sonny" Holt Jr., 47, of Melbourne died Wednesday, June 6, 2001. Born at Manila, he was an Army veteran. He was employed by the Izard and Independence County sheriff's departments, and from 1980-1986 he worked for the Arkansas Highway Police. He also transported mail and was a member of the Melbourne Community Church.

Survivors include his wife, Nanette Holt of the home; a son, Amon Eugene "Trey" Holt III of the home; two daughters, Kimberly Kaye Holt of Jonesboro and Mazie Annett Holt of the home; his parents, Amon Eugene and Anabeth Holt of Manila; two sisters, Rosann Mattingly of Manila and Faye Haney of Jonesboro.

He was preceded in death by an infant twin brother.

The funeral was held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Roman and Billy Howard Memorial Chapel in Melbourne with Danny Webster and Doyne Robertson officiating. Burial was at 3 p.m. at Manila Cemetery with Waymon Holt officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
