Jay A. Ellingson - Monette

Jay A. Ellingson, 76, of Monette, died Sunday, May 13, 2001, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Born at Williston, N.D., he lived in Osceola before moving to Monette in 1984. He was a retired machinist and was the presiding overseer of the Monette congregation of the Jehovah's Witnesses. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was held as a prisoner of war in Germany.

Survivors include his wife, Gertrude June Ellingson of the home; a daughter, Ella Ellingson of Knoxville, Tenn.; and a brother, Wildor Ellingson of Napa, Calif.

A memorial service was held at 7 p.m. Friday in the Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah's Witnesses in Monette with Jon Jones officiating. Burial was private. Arrangements were under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
