Leonard Philip Watkins

Leonard Philip Watkins, 78, of Burns, Tenn., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012. He was born on Jan. 19, 1934, at Caraway to the late Charlie Philip and Anna Mae Watkins. Mr. Watkins served his country proudly in the United

States Air Force and the United States Army. The Watkins had lived in Alaska and Manila before moving to Burns. He was a self-employed equipment fabricating and a Jockey; he enjoyed training horses and rodeo activities.

He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the First Baptist Church of Decaturville, Tenn.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Watkins; three daughters, Barb Holmes and husband Lee of Nashville, Tenn., Tammie Mann and Susan Watkins both of

Washington State; a brother and his wife, Garland and Lela Watkins of Lakeland, Tenn.; a sister, Sylvia McEwen of Texarkana, Ark.; a sister-in-law, Billie Martin of Clinton, Tenn.; five grandsons, Reese Holmes, Ryker Holmes, Teague Holmes, Joshua Watkins, Matthew Richardson.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Philip Watkins and a daughter, Regina Stovall.

A celebration of his life was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at the Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby McCord officiating. Burial followed at Caraway Cemetery.

Visitation was held from 11:30 until time of service at the funeral home.

Honored to serve as pallbearers were Reese Holmes, Lee Holmes, Steve Woolsey, Lee McEwen, Forrest Hubbard and Woody Martin.
