Rodney Lee Riggs, 51, of Manila, passed from this life, Monday, May 7, 2012, at the University of Arkansas for Medical Science Medical Center in Little Rock following a couragous battle with leukemia. Born at Blytheville, he was the great-great-grandson of Manila pioneer, Flenord Riggs, and had been a lifelong Manila resident. Rodney was a 1980 graduate of Manila High School and was employed for nearly 30 years as a machine specialist for American Greetings Company in Osceola. He was a longtime member of the Community Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Griggs Riggs of the home; his parents, Ronald and Betty Daniel Riggs of Manila; a brother, Alan Riggs of Manila; a step-son, Kelly Stewart of Manila; a step-daughter, Angel Hembrey of Manila; two step-grandsons, Michael and Gaige Edwards of Manila.

Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 10, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with Rev. Jerry Pentecost officiating. Burial followed in Manila Cemetery. The family received visitors Thursday from noon until service time at the funeral home.
