Bobby Gene Potter, 69, of Paragould, died Monday April 30, 2012, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born at Leachville, he was the son of the late Hillman and Effie Harkey Potter and attended Leachville High School. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1960 and served aboard the USS Yorktown. Bobby was a former resident of Vilonia and was the former fire chief for the Vilonia Volunteer Fire Department. He later owned Potter's Grocery in Oak Grove and City Market in Paragould. He also owned Bob's Barber Shop in Paragould for nearly 20 years.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Buford Mason, and a sister, Dorothy Adams.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Garrett Potter of the home; a son, Daniel Potter, and his wife Jennifer of Paragould; a brother, Billy Potter of Paragould; two sisters, Betty Hedrick and Joyce Soluchuda, both of Kansas City, Mo. He also leaves two grandchildren, Erin and Garrett Potter.

Funeral Service was 11 a.m. Thursday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Rev. David White officiating. Burial with military honors followed in Leachville Cemetery.
