Rose Estelle Downing

Mrs. Rose Estelle Downing, 90, of Manila, passed from this life Wednesday May 2, 2012, at the Arkansas Methodist Hospital in Paragould. Born at Malvern, Ark., she was the daughter of the late John and Stella Wilson Redding and was raised in Bono. She had lived most of her life in Manila and was retired from the Arkansas Missouri Power Company. Rose was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Manila.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Sue Simpson of Paragould; six grandsons, Todd Simpson, Tim Simpson, Paul Simpson, and Phillip Simpson, all of Paragould, Ted Simpson of Jonesboro and Chad Kingsbury of Columbus, Miss.; two brothers, Felix Redding of Festus, Mo., and Henry Redding of Nashville, Tenn.; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Graveside funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Manila Cemetery with burial under the direction of Howard Funeral Service of Manila. The family received visitors Sunday afternoon from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
