Clarence Jackson Shockley, 92, of Manila, died Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011, at the Lakeside Nursing Center in Lake City. Born in Manila he was the son of the late Charlie Oscar and Mary Etta Wright Shockley and had been a lifelong Manila area resident. He was a 1941 graduate of Manila High School and was attending Arkansas State College when he was called to serve his country in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Northern Africa and Italy. He was a retired farmer and longtime member and deacon of First Baptist Church in Manila.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Mabel Goodman Shockley, a brother, William Shockley, and a stepsister, Minnie Watkins.

He is survived by a brother Nolan Shockley of Lexa, Ark.; and many nieces and nephews all of whom he cared about as if they were his children.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday Sept. 3, at First Baptist Church in Manila with Reverend Ferrel Duffel officiating. Burial was in the Manila Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors Saturday from noon until service time at the church.
