Jerry Wayne Ward, 54 of Rives, Mo., died Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at his home. Born Feb. 15, 1957, at Hornersville, Mo., he was the son of Durham and Ima Nunnery Ward and had been a lifelong area resident. Mr. Ward was in sales for many years before becoming a Southern Baptist minister. He was a 1975 graduate of the Senath/Hornersville school system. He enjoyed traveling, talking and visiting with people.

He was also a member of the Hornersville Masonic Lodge 215 and a member of the Hornersville Order of the Eastern Star 523.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Mrs. Debra Ward of the home; one son, Jason Aaron Ward of the home; two daughters, April Michelle Creech and husband Omer Dale of Cape Girardeau, Mo., and Amber Marie Ward of Swansea, Ill.; his mother, Ima Lee Ward of Kennett, Mo.; one brother, Michael Keith Ward of Kennett, Mo.; one sister, Carolyn Jane Boyer of Kennett, Mo. Mr. Ward also leaves a host of other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Jackie Pierce.

Funeral services were 2 p.m. Saturday, June 4, at the Friendship Baptist Church in Kennett, Mo., with Rev. Gaylon Williams officiating. Burial was in the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Kennett under the direction of Faith Funeral Service of Manila.

The family received visitors from 6-9 p.m. Friday, June 3, at the church.
