Carroll Gipson, 87, passed away Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010, at the Lakeside Nursing CenterHe was born Sept. 10, 1923, at Lake City to the late Oscar and Vennie Gipson and had lived his lifetime in Lake City. He was a retired employee of the Singer Co. in Trumann after 25 years of service. He was of the Baptist belief and loved gardening.

He is survived by a granddaughter, April Spencer; a great-grandson, Travis Spencer; one brother, the Rev. Earl "Short" Gipson; and a daughter-in-law, Charlene Thompson, all of Lake City; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dovie Gipson; a son, Willie Thompson; two brothers, Ray Gipson and Preston Gipson; and one sister, Faye Gipson.

A graveside service to celebrate his life will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Pine Log Cemetery near Brookland with the Rev. Johnny Gipson officiating.

Burial followed under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are DeBud Maness, Benny Martin, Darrell Thompson, Lance Taylor, A.C. Daniel, Harvey Edward Faulkner and Earl "Pink" Thompson. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be other nephews of Mr.

Gipson.
