Dean Baumgardner

Dean Baumgardner, daughter of the late Guy Hemby and Daisy (Becker) Hemby, was born Jan. 30, 1921, in Neelyville, Mo., and departed this life on Oct. 19, 2010, at the age of 89 years, 8 months and 19 days. She was of Jonesboro and formerly of Senath, Mo., and passed away at St. Elizabeth's Place in Jonesboro.

She married John A. Baumgardner on Dec. 3, 1938. John preceded her in death on June 9, 2005.

Survivors include three daughters, Deloris Cornish of Jonesboro, Donna Nettles and her husband Jim of Gideon, Mo., Oma Sanders and her husband Robert of Naples, Idaho; seven grandchildren, many great-grandhchildren and great-great grandchildren; two brothers, James Hemby of North Carolina, David Hemby of Colorado; a sister, Dorothy Hastings of Edgewood, Iowa; other relatives and friends. She was loved by all who knew her, was a "mom" to many children and will be missed by all.

Dean was preceded in death by two sons, Robert Carroll Baumgardner and John William Baumgardner; three brothers, Cephias, Arnold and Jesse Hemby; four sisters, Ruby Bush, Ola Jean Schoen, Mary Shandra and Mabel Hemby, and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett. Reverend Al Henderson and Pastor Angie Gage officiated. McDaniel Funeral Service of Kennett was in charge of the arrangements.
