Algie Wayne McCullough, 81, of Manila died Sunday, Sept. 26, 2010, at his home surrounded by his family. Born Oct. 27, 1928, in Manila, he was the son of the late Rulen and Bessie Huggins McCullough and had been a lifelong Manila resident. He was a 1946 graduate of Manila High School and was retired from Associated Natural Gas Company and the Manila Volunteer Fire Department. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, was involved in the development of Mallard Lake and was a strong supporter of the Big Lake area. He was also a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Manila and he enjoyed listening to the Gaither Homecoming videos.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Mackey Joe McCullough.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Eva Mae Glover McCullough of the home; two sons, Allen McCullough and his wife Jeanne of Manila and Nelson McCullough and his wife Carolyn of Kennett, Mo.; a sister, Vivian Pirtle, and her husband Jim of Paducah, Ky.; four grandchildren, Jodie Emmert and her husband Grant of Manila, Amanda Stone and her husband Will of Ozark, Mo., Adam McCullough and his wife Melissa of Kansas City, Mo., and Joshua McCullough and his fiancee Brooke Phillips of Manila. He also leaves a host of very special home health and hospice caregivers as well as many friends.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church in Manila with Rev. Jerry Pentecost officiating. Burial will follow in the Manila Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Howard Funeral Chapel in Manila.
