Garry Wayne Cole, 56, of Manila died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010, at his home. Born at Steele, Mo., he was the son of the late Wayne Oliver and Hallie Hazel Parks Cole and had been a longtime Michigan resident before making his home in Manila in 1974. He was a retired welder for Southworth Manufacturing in Manila and was an avid Nascar fan especially #2 Rusty Wallace. He also enjoyed taking care of his fruit trees and was known for growing extraordinarily large pumpkins and watermelons.

Survivors include his brother, Kenneth Cole and his wife Anita of Manila; two nephews of whom he loved very much, Ryan and Connor Cole.

The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Howard Funeral Chapel in Manila with Rev. Eddie Hawkins officiating. Burial was in the Manila Cemetery.

The family received visitors from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Serving as active pallbearers were Tinker Hutton, Matt McWhirter, Chuck McWhirter, Barry Parks, Darrin Parks and Milton Atkinson. Honorary pallbearers were Larry Dodd, Roger Thorn, Odell Dehart, Jimmy Hicks, Paul Wayne Hicks and Jim Ed Robbins.
