Mark West

Mark West, Jr., 72, died on Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009 at St. Bernards Hospice House after an extensive illness. Mr. West was born Aug. 8, 1937 to the late Mark West, Sr. and Bertha Mae Walker West in Collier Township, Greene County, Ark. Mr. West was proud of his American Indian ancestry, taught dance, won dance contests, worked as a carpenter, was an avid nature lover and enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.

Survivors include Sue Parker, companion and best friend; four sons, Gary Wayne West, Billy Ewin West, Darrye Gaylon West and David Lee West; a daughter, Marci Louise West; five brothers, Sam West, Donald Gene West, Hubert West and Joe West, and Henry West; two sisters, Mary Jane Bresna and Dorothy Wilson; and a host of other family and friends.

Mr. West was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Chris Carpenter, Danny West, Joe West, Bill West and Jim West; and three sisters, Patsy Eaton, Betty Williams and Earlene Carpenter.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, Dec. 19, from 4-6 p.m. at the Christian Care Center, 4904 Old Walcott Road, Paragould. Faith Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.
