Sharron Kay Barker, 63, of Manila, widow of C.L. Barker, died Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, at the NEA/Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro. Born at Manila, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Lillie Mae Williams Carter and had been a lifelong Manila resident. She was a Class of 1964 graduate of Manila High School, a member of the Business Women of Manila, was retired from Merchants and Planters Bank in Manila after 36 years of service. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Manila and was an active member with the Methodist Women's Group until her illness prevented her from doing so.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Carroll Willard Carter in 2003, and her stepfather, D.A. Walker.

She is survived by two nieces, Cindy Bunch and Donna McCormick, both of Manila. She also leaves her great-nephew, Carl Richard Bunch of Manila.

The funeral was 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Howard Funeral Chapel in Manila with Rev. Ray Dill officiating. Burial will follow in the Manila Cemetery. The family received visitors Monday evening from 6-8 at the funeral home.

Serving as active pallbearers were Tommy Towles, Danny Robbins, Victor Byrd, David Garner, Wayne Wagner, Jerry Hitchcock, Clifford Browning, Larry Browning, Jerry Curnett, Dennis Farmer and Wayne Cochran.

Honorary pallbearers were Max Schrader, Jim Cheadle, Bob White, Jimmy Henry, Neal Wayne Oates, Alan Oates, Larry Hicks, Bobby Moore and Bobby Tucker.
