Charles Masterson

Charles Sherman Masterson, 78, of Leachville, died Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born at Corning, he was the son of the late Andrew and Minnie Waller Masterson and had lived much of his life in Clarkton, Mo. He had been a Leachville resident for the past 39 years and was retired from the Arkansas Highway Department. Mr. Masterson was a member of the Leachville Second Baptist Church and was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Gladys Wess Masterson, of the home; two sons, Anthony Masterson and David Masterson, both of Festus, Mo.; a daughter, Joan Masterson of Festus, Mo.; a step-son, Keith Baker of Detroit, Mich.; a step-daughter, Pamela Atkinson of Russellville; a brother, Hursel Masterson of Senath, Mo.; two sisters, Marie House of Clarkton, Mo., and Dorothy Henry of East Prairie, Mo.

A graveside service was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, at the Leachville Cemetery with Rev. Randy Huddleston officiating. Burial was under the direction of Howard Funeral Service of Leachville.

Honorary pallbearers were Bill Bowen, Carl Warren, Sr., Carl Warren, Jr., Tommy Atkinson and Hardin Daniels.
