Jimmy Kenneth Hitchcock, 55, of Manila died Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Memphis, Tenn. Born to the late William and Zera Hitchcock on Dec. 13, 1953, in Marks, Miss., Mr. Hitchcock was a Vietnam era Army veteran serving with the 101st Airborne, an avid fisherman, enjoyed helping the elderly, was very good working with his hands, and worked as a painter in furniture manufacturing.

Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Hitchcock of Manila; three sons, James Brasfield, Jr. of California, Ronnie Shirley, Jr. of Monette, and Steven Shirley of Manila; two daughters, Pam Brasfield of Leachville and Theresa Jones of Paragould; six brothers, James Hitchcock of Maine, William Hitchcock of Escatawpa, Miss., Jerry Hitchcock of Manila, Therman Hitchcock of Manila, Ricky Lynn Hitchcock of Paragould, and Virgil Hitchcock of Bryant; three sisters, Joette Short of Jonesboro, Frances Hitchcock of Chicago, Ill., and Betty Martinez of Jonesboro; eight grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

Mr. Hitchcock was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert Hitchcock and Jessie Hitchcock; two sisters, Shirley Ann Hitchcock and Alarea Shields.

A memorial service was held Tuesday, Nov. 10, from 6-8 p.m. at Faith Funeral Service in Manila.
