Paul Alexander Lang, 90, of Monette, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009, in a Little Rock hospital surrounded by his family. He was born July 15, 1919, in El Paso, Ark., to the late John and Nettie Lang. Mr. Lang was a faithful member and deacon of Mt. Pleasant General Baptist Church in Monette. He enlisted in the Army before Pearl Harbor Day and gave four years of service to his country during World War II. He was a retired farmer in Craighead County.

He is survived by his sweetheart and wife of 67 years, Lula Cornish Lang of Monette; three sons and their wives, Nicholas and Helen Lang of Little Rock, Roy and Michele Lang of Hot Springs, Chris and Elka Lang of Lonoke; seven grandchildren, Christopher Lang, Patrick Lang, Courtney Lang, Kellie Robertson, Candice Lang, Jonathon Ledrick, Jennifer Fithen; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Zack Lang.

He was also preceded in death by eight brothers and four sisters.

A celebration of his life was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, at the Gregg Funeral Home Chapel in Monette with Rev. Ernest Cornish officiating. Burial was in Monette Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation was from 10 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the Gregg Funeral Home in Monette.

Honored to serve as pallbearers were Jon Ledrick, Dan Whited, Tom Riley, Mike Mangrum, Johnny Cornish and Tony Cornish and as honorary pallbearer, Patrick Lang.
