Barbara Jean (Harris) Tyler, 71, died Tuesday June 9, 2009, at St. Bernards Medical Center due to a sudden illness. Born Jan. 5, 1938 to the late Etta D. Harris in Los Angeles, Calif., she was raised in Eudora, Ark., and lived most of her life in Brinkley before moving to Jonesboro five years ago. She was a retired school bus driver for the Brinkley School district, member of the Jehovah's Witness for 32 years, full time evangelizer over 20 years, recently with the Jonesboro Spanish Congregation of Jehovah's Witness, enjoyed sharing with others the Good News of the Bible and participated regularly in the construction and renovation of Kingdom Halls. She will be dearly missed by all her friends and family.

Survivors include a sister, Billie W. Tyler of Little Rock; a son, James Edward Tyler, Jr. of Little Rock; three daughters, Shirley Faye Alexander and husband Walter of Forrest City, Jacqueline Janice Tyler of Kingston, N.Y., and Pamela Nicole Tyler of Little Rock; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

Mrs. Tyler was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Tyler, Sr. They were married Feb. 13, 1960, and he died July 23, 1996.

A memorial service was held at 5 p.m. Monday June 15, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses 5618 Summer Place, Jonesboro with Minister Leonardo Irizarry officiating. There was no visitation.

Faith Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.
