James A. "Booster" Ballard

James A. "Booster" Ballard, 82, of Leachville, died Friday, April 17, 2009, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born near Heber Springs, he was the son of the late Jacob and Mabel Wallace Ballard and had been a Leachville residents since 1955. He was retired from Hytrol Conveyor in Jonesboro and was a member of the Etowah Pentecostal Church of God. Mr. Ballard was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Ballard, in 1976.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Barbara Crews Ballard, of the home; two sons, Larry Ballard and Jake Ballard, both of Leachville; a brother, Marion Ballard of Little Rock; a sister, Helen Blevins of Leachville; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Rev. Huey Meherg officiating. Burial was in Leachville Cemetery. The family received visitors from 6-8 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
