Beatrice Woods Ward

Beatrice Woods Ward, 99, of Caraway went to be with her Savior on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at Lakeside Nursing Center in Lake City. Mrs. Ward was born on March 16, 1910 in Malden, Mo., and was a resident of Leachville for many years before moving to Caraway in 1950 where she and her husband, Ode, were longtime farmers.

She was a member of the Church of God and was preceded in death by her parents, Will and Nancy Woods; two sisters, one brother and a granddaughter.

Mrs. Ward leaves her husband of 78 years, Ode Ward of the home; one son and his wife, James and Barbara Ward of Cordova, Tenn.; two daughters and their husbands, Vondella and Leon Davis of Caraway and Lois and Larry Meadows of Tonganoxie, Kan.; four sisters, Marylee Thomason of Siloam Springs, Aliene Holland of Grand Haven, Mich., Delorce Ethridge of Spring Lake, Mich., and Gledis Hester of Mountain View; 10 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 11, at the Gregg Funeral Home Chapel in Monette with Rev. Floyd Porter and Rev. Rick Stevens officiating. Burial was in Leachville Cemetery.

Visitation was Friday, April 10, 2009, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Gregg Funeral Home in Monette.

Honored to serve as pallbearers were Lynn Haag, Robyn Reach, Gary Meadows, Jimmy Ward, Doyle Ward and Donnie Ward. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Hawkins, Dale Haas, Jack McCann, Jerry Vaughn and Kyle Haas.
