Lake City

Fred Payne, 73, of Lake City died at his residence on Sunday, March 23, 2008. He was born at Lester to Russ and Jennie Davis Payne. He was the owner of the Chatterbox Restaurant in Lake City, an honorary member of the Arkansas Sheriffs Association and a reserve deputy for Craighead County.

He is survived by a son, Freddie M. Payne of Boaz, Ala.; a grandson, Freddie Keith Payne of Boaz; a granddaughter, Kelly Payne of Boaz; three great-granddaughters, MaKenley Payne, Maddie Payne and Khloe Jones; and two great-grandsons, Jaden Hornbuckle and Grayson Tyde Jones.

A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Pine Log Cemetery near Brookland with Rev. Raymond Clark officiating. Langford-Bookout Funeral Home of Jonesboro was in charge of arrangements.

Active pallbearers were Roger Steele, Lewis Ladd, Roland Cobb, Larry Nall and Jim Robertson.

Honorary pallbearers were Danny Qualls, Lynn B. Nall, Blake Robertson, Darren Owens, Tanner Oguinn and Mark Ridge.
