Steele

Emma Elizabeth Buchanan, 94, of Steele, Mo., died on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett. Born April 27, 1913 in Holiday, Tenn., to the late Lon and Minnie Vickery, Mrs. Buchanan was a homemaker, lifelong area resident, member of the First Baptist Church for many years, avid gardener and loved the outdoors.

Survivors include a son, Gary Buchanan and wife Diana of Steele; a daughter, Joyce Hanvey of Huntsville, Ala.; a sister, Catherine Peterson of Hinsdale, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Buchanan was preceded in death by her husband, Claude "Buck" Buchanan; parents; four brothers, Clarence Vickery, Clyde Vickery, Eulan Vickery, and John Vickery; and two sisters, Florence Vickery, and Lula Vickery.

Services were Friday at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Steele with Rev. Michael Funderburk officiating. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery at Blytheville under the direction of Faith Funeral Service.

Pallbearers were Nogi McDaniel, Jack Brooks, George Cooke, Randy McDaniel, Howard Burns, and Bill Lewis.
