Leachville

Cecil Copeland, 86, of Leachville, died Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at his home. Born in Light, he was the son of the late Charley and Sarah Henson Copeland and had been a lifelong Leachville area resident. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a retired employee of the Leachville and Arbyrd Compress and a member of the Church of God in Leachville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sons, Kenneth Copeland, Lewis Brinkley, Jimmy Woods, J.B. Fleeman; three brothers and a sister.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Kincaid Fleeman Copeland of the home; four sons, Johnny Copeland of Dundee, Fla., Gary Copeland of Auburndale, Fla., Jimmy Fleeman of Leachville, and Tommy Fleeman of Selma, Calif.; six daughters, Mary Ruth Watson of Texarkana, Texas, Debbie Black of Texarkana, Texas, Helen Wiseman and a special friend, Larry Huckabee, of Arbyrd, Mo., Gean Rountree of Manila, Norma Stacy of Leachville, and Carolyn Robertson of Osceola; a sister, Mattie Thomas of Waycross, Ga.; a very special niece he thought of as a daughter, Sarah Platz of Lake City; 31 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held at 1 p.m. Friday in the Howard Funeral Chapel in Leachville with Rev. B.R. Miller officiating. Burial was in the Manila Cemetery under the direction of Howard Funeral Service.
