Joseph "Joe" Howard, 66, of Marie, died Feb. 4, 2008. He was born June 28, 1941, in Memphis, Tenn. He was a security guard employed with Securitas of Jonesboro. He was a member of the National Guard for 19 years. He retied from American Greetings after 33 years.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Carol Howard of Marie; his mother Gertrude Howard of Hasting, Neb.; two daughters, Kim Howard of Manila and Joanne Howard of Hastings; a son, Clay Howard of Joiner; a sister, Illen Chafin of Bowling Green, Ky.; three grandchildren, Braiden Howard and Emma Howard of Joiner, and Dixie Grace Carmichael of Manila.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Wilson Funeral Home in Osceola with Brother Gary Andrews officiating. Burial was in Rivercrest Gardens at Marie.
