Leachville

Carmen Belle Connell, 91, of Leachville, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2008, at the Monette Manor Nursing Center. Born at Leachville, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Jessie Edgin and was a lifelong area resident. She was a homemaker and a longtime member of the Leachville First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, Jake Connell and Burton Connell; five brothers, Lewis Edgin, Henry Edgin, Roy Edgin, Barton Edgin, and Jack Edgin; three sisters, Myrtle Overbay, Rachel Wright, and Ella Mae McCoy. She was also preceded in death by a son, David Connell.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Dottie Cobbs and Charles of Leachville, and Ruth Ann Taylor and Charles of Paragould; one stepson, Charles Connell, of Union City, Tenn.; three stepdaughters, Donna Macklin, Janie Elliott and Carolyn Cole, all of Trenton, Tenn.; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; eight step-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, George Edgin of Arbyrd and Ernest Edgin of Leachville; and two sisters, Jessie Ruth Martin of St. Charles, Mo., and Christeen Littlefield of Leachville.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Rev. William Piercy officiating. Burial was in the Leachville Cemetery.

Grandsons and great-grandsons served as pallbearers.
