Monette

Opaline Wallace Smothers of Lakeside Nursing Center died Aug. 26, 2007, at the age of 85. She was born and raised in Monette. She was a homemaker and a member of Bethabara Baptist Church.

She is survived by four daughters, Sandra Henard of Beebe, Diane Matherly of Clarksville, Tenn., Janet Robertson of Lake City and Terry McCulley of Paragould; a brother, P.D. Wallace of Cherokee Village; a sister, Willene Manis of Gardner, Kan.; five grandchildren, Jerry Matherly Jr., Heath Robertson, Chip McCulley, Misty Mosley and Emily McCulley.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Oliver "Ott" Smothers; her parents, T.A. "Tom" and Gertie Wallace; three sisters; a brother and a son-in-law.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. today (Tuesday) in Gregg Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Owens officiating. Burial will follow in Monette Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home at Monette.

Grandsons and sons-in-law will serve as pallbearers.
