Elizabeth Maxine Modesitt, 82 of Manila, died Thursday, July 5, 2007, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born in Thida, she was the daughter of the late Jessie Lee and Pherby Isebell Nolan Davidson. She was a lifelong Manila resident and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Manila.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Frank Modesitt in 1966; two sons, Samuel Lee Modesitt and Paul Dean Modesitt; two grandsons, Terry Dean Modesitt and Todd Anthony Edwards; four brothers and one sister.

Survivors include a daughter, Shelia Modesitt Williamson of Manila; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Modesitt, of Manila; two sisters, Irene Armstrong of Moses Lake, Wash., and Delphie Fudge of Rockford, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Samuel Lee Modesitt, Jr., Sherry Scoggins, Gary Modesitt, Tim Edwards, Margaret Contreras, Joni Isebell and Steven Modesitt Byers.

The funeral was held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with Rev. Troy L. Thomas officiating. Burial was in the Leachville Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were great-grandsons, Paul Keith Rabey, P.J. Contreras, Wesley Contreras, Seth Edwards, Dennis Isebell, and Larry Dodd.
